Western Africa’s first Tier III data center has gone live in Lagos
with 3,000 rack spaces and 6 Mva of power, making it the most powerful
data center in the region.
Rack Centre, part of the Lagos-based Jagal Group, said it is the first Tier III-designed, neutral colocation data center facility offering services in Nigeria and Western Africa.
The company said it has set its sights on “positioning Nigeria at the center of the worldwide growth in disaster recovery, data storage and cloud-based data centre services”.
The data center is expected to cover more than 6,000 sq m once complete, and is located at the centre of Ikeja – the capital of Lagos State - on a 20,000 sq m site.
The site is 23m above sea level and within a private estate, with eight levels of physical security to ensure “uncompromized security”.
Steve Brookman, Rack Centre’s managing director, said the “revolutionary” data center would “out Nigeria at the heart of the global growth in disaster recovery and applications development”.
